Gill sentenced for Nokia

A St Michael man who was found guilty of handling stolen property has been sentenced to two years in prison.

However, Teddy Orlando McDonald Gill, of No. 77 Wanstead Gardens, St James, only has 120 days left at Dodds having spent 610 days on remand.

Madam Justice Pamela Beckles imposed the sentence in the No. 5 Supreme court yesterday.

Gill was accused of indecently assaulting Canadian diplomat Dr Nicole Giles and robbing her husband back in April 2015.

He went on trial and an eight-member jury found him not guilty of the two crimes but guilty of handling stolen property namely a Nokia cellular phone belonging to Mr Giles.

Police say the electronic device was found in his possession. However, Gill maintained that he purchased the device from a man named Yank in Swan Street, The City.
