Last Friday the grounds of Dover Sports Club came alive when Hott 95.3 Fm held their Bajarama: Cricket Under The Lights.

The two themes represented the National Cultural Foundation, and the National Sports Council, respectively. Players included De Announcer (Captain of the National Cultural Foundation), Dj Ras, D2, Amazing Dre, Sherwin Straker, Quon, Jimmy Dan, Ranaan, Dj Ramon G, Shaquille Layne, Derrick Bishop, Sharon Carew-White, Admiral and Sherwin Campbell (Captain of the National Sports Council), Michael Brown, Levi Cadogan, Michah Thornhill, Jaman Bridgeman, Jade Padmore, Jafari Toppin, Jeremy John, Donovan Lovell, Anthony Young, Javed Forde, and Sampson. At the end of the event, the National Cultural Foundation team was declared the winner.

At seven p.m. the attention drifted to the stage where some of Barbados’ best entertainers performed. The audience was warmed up with Chris Camera Man Wood who sang his 2019 release Rough it Up. Dressed in red and white, he gave an entertaining performance as he sang and ‘wukked up’ throughout the performance.

Next on stage was Chrissy D clad in an all-white dress with fluorescent green hair who sang her 2019 release Secret. The crowd came alive when Stiffy joined her on stage for their song Carpenter; hands flew up in the air as Stiffy asked who in the audience were ‘carpenters’.

Then came Fanthom Dundeal who told the audience that he declined an offer in Nigeria so he could be at this event; but his performance left a lot to be desired.

Sanctuary who performed next, was able to move the crowd. Dressed in all white, he got them dancing and singing along to his selections which included his 2019 release This Gal. During that performance he joined the audience and danced with a patron. He ended his set with the popular Mega Mondays.

Even though she is pregnant Nikita is a firecracker when she hits the stage. Dressed all in green, she entertained the audience who thoroughly enjoyed her performance as she sang Same Way and Going The Distance.

Up next was the one many were waiting for – The General. Edwin Yearwood took the crowd back in time with Yardie which had patrons ‘spun pooch’ to the selection. They then danced to Sak Pase. His performance had its serious moments as he sang A Voice In My Head, telling the audience the violence has to stop.

The final performer was 2017 Bashment Soca Finalist Stiffy with No Boring Girls Allowed, Tek off Something and Squat and Guh Down. The audience showed their flexibility as they ‘shook and jiggled and bubbled and dipped’. And it was all over with the audience becoming ‘plugged into all’ as he sang Tip and Bend Ova.

The next Hott 95.3 Bajarama is scheduled for Three Houses Park on Saturday, May 25th. (LG)
