Lifestyle Draw the line Barbados Today30/05/2019391 views Separating your personal life from your professional life is possible says enthusiastic young author Nekisha Prince-Haynes in her book called Your Client Is Not Your Friend. During a book signing at Police Sports Club last Friday, Prince-Haynes said the book is precisely what the title indicates, as she explained that many people don’t know how to separate their personal life from their profession. “It is a book that is meant for most entrepreneurs and teaches them how to separate their personal lives from their professional life; how they can work along with their clients and not become their friend; how not to get too close and personal with your clients because it can cause heartache and pain,” said Prince-Haynes. The Guyanese born author who is a Barbadian resident said her passion for reading and writing began at a tender age, and that love affair remains constant for the 30-year-old. According to Prince-Haynes, the idea for writing the book stemmed from her own experiences. “I work for overseas clients and after a few of them took advantage of my services, I decided that if I wanted my business to be successful, then I needed to do something different. Then I was browsing through my online group and realised I wasn’t the only one in this situation; other persons were complaining about the same thing. So, I thought about the idea of writing a book, and after discussing my thoughts with a family friend, and a few others, I wrote the book. “Moving onto secondary school, I developed a stronger love for reading and writing after becoming close friends with my Social Studies teacher. She challenged me to read one novel a day with her, and that is when I began writing. But I never published my work until now,” Prince-Haynes said. The book is not yet available in Barbados’ bookstores but Prince-Haynes said it could be accessed online at Amazon. (ML)
