Youth chooses community service over fine

The District “A” Criminal Court today gave an unemployed young man the option to be fined or ordered to perform community service.

After 22-year-old Shamar Che Andre Bostic pleaded guilty to two drug-related charges and Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant offered him the choice of a fine or community service, the Carrington Village, St Michael lad chose the latter.

As a result, the magistrate ordered him to complete 80 hours of community service and return to court on April 24.

Bostic admitted that yesterday he unlawfully had cannabis in his possession and also had the same drug with intent to supply.

The police prosecutor informed the court that the cannabis weighed 7.7 grams and had an estimated value of $40.

Bostic’s bail was set at $1,500.
