Court Local News Accused to be sentenced next month Barbados Today17/03/2020069 views A St Philip man remains on bail after pleading guilty to gun and ammunition charges in the High Court today. Chad Joel Hunte, of Merrick’s Road admitted he was the one who had an illegal .38 revolver in his possession on September 4, 2017 along with 20 rounds of ammunition. After Crown Counsel Oliver Thomas detailed the facts of his crime before Justice Randall Worrell today in the No. 2 Supreme Court Hunte’s attorney-at-law Michael Lashley, Q.C., requested that his client who is also known as Task Force remain on his $50,000 bail pending sentence. The Queen’s Counsel also submitted that Hunte had been released from jail back in June 2019, having spent some 22 months on remand at Dodds, and had since been gainfully employed with two jobs. Thomas in response said given the circumstances the Crown had no objection to the convicted man remaining on bail. Justice Worrell upheld Lashley’s submission telling Hunte that he was “extremely fortunate” since accused persons are usually remanded on such convictions. A pre-sentencing report has been ordered on Hunte who is known to the court for a drug conviction back in September 2017. He returns before the court on April 24 for sentencing.
