Shurland Delacey Boyce, of Pine Road, St Michael will spend the next 28 days at the St Philip institution and reappear before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant on April 14. The 75-year-old is alleged to have entered the house of Pamette Millar as a trespasser between March 3 and 5 where he stole a $5,000 bed. He pleaded not guilty to the charge following which the prosecutor objected to bail based on the nature of the offence and the fact that Boyce had other pending matters before the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court. In his bail application, however, Boyce who is known to the courts, told the Bridgetown magistrate that the charge before her was “nothing to remand me for”. “I have a respiratory problem and a lung infection . . . I cannot tolerate prison,” the elderly man said adding: “I have been doing my best to stay away from prison.” His application was not successful.
