Get a mailbox. It’s the law

Valeta Best

A mailbox for homes and businesses will be legally required from June 1, the Postmaster General has announced.

The new Post Office (Delivery) Regulations of 2019 state: “A receptacle for mail delivery at a residence, office complex or commercial building is a mail box, while a receptacle at an apartment building or condominium is a cluster box unit.”

Postmaster General Valeta Best explained that the new requirement is being introduced as a part of the Post Office’s objective to deliver the post more efficiently to residents and businesses.

Best added that one of the advantages of the regulations is the reduction in the amount of visits that postal workers have to make to the same location to deliver a single piece of mail.
