Youth on gun and ammo charges

Rackeem Shaquille Alleyne

An automatic 28 days on remand at Dodds Prison was what a young St Michael man received when he appeared before one of this island’s courts on two indictable charges at the weekend.

Rackeem Shaquille Alleyne, of No. 7 Shepton Lane, the Pine is alleged to have had an illegal firearm and ten rounds of ammunition in his possession without a valid permit from the Commissioner of Police.

The 24-year-old, who was represented by attorney-at-law Lalu Hanuman, was not required to plead to the two March 19 charges read to him by Magistrate Graveney Bannister on Saturday, March 21 in the St Matthias Magistrates’ Court.

Alleyne will make his second appearance in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on April 17 in the jurisdiction where the crimes were allegedly committed.
