Weed lands farmer in jail

When he saw the police on April 9, a 40-year-old decided to run.

And when police apprehended farmer Kevin Antonio Clarke, of Roach Village, St George moments later they found $835 worth of marijuana in his pocket after he consented to a search.

“This is just my smoking weed,” he told police at his capture.

Appearing before Magistrate Wayne Clarke over the weekend the known offender pleaded guilty to possession, possession with intent to supply and possession of a trafficable quantity of the drug.

“It was just for smoking. Sorry,” Clarke told the magistrate in the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

However, the judicial officer informed him that he had apologised for committing a similar offence a few years back.

“I can’t remember. I does do a little farming, carrots, cabbage, vegetables and things,” the drug convict explained.

He was sentenced to six months in prison.
