Black Rock stay for accused

Accused Ricardo Orlando Streeks was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital for observation today by the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

The 44-year-old, of no fixed place of abode, will reappear before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in three weeks.

Streeks is accused of having cocaine paraphernalia in his possession on July 1. He pleaded not guilty to the charge which led the prosecutor to object to his bail.

The Crown said the accused, who is known to the courts, had no fixed place of abode and as such it would be difficult to get him to court. The prosecution further submitted that there was a need to protect the accused and the society as “he has been making a nuisance of himself”.
