Shooting, stabbings keep cops busy

Detectives were Friday probing a raft of violent incidents this week that left four young men between 19 and 28 years old nursing gunshot and stab wounds.

At Four Hill, St Peter, two men were shot and wounded on Wednesday night around 10:20 p.m.

According to police, a group of men was playing dominoes at Griffith Grocery and Bar when two gunmen, one wearing a mask, the other with a dark shirt covering his face, demanded money and started shooting.

Akeel Lamar Carter, 28, of Roebuck Street, St Peter was shot above his left eye and is reported to be in a stable but critical condition in hospital.

Shaquir Ifill, 19, of Four Hill Development, St Peter was shot in his left thigh. He was treated and discharged.

Police at District E are investigating.

In two separate stabbing incidents at around 9.45 Friday morning, a man in St Michael and another in St Joseph were stabbed, said police.

At Salters, 19-year-old Shane Antonio Duyer, of Salters, St Michael was stabbed about his body.

Duyer was taken to hospital for medical attention.

At the same time, police on the east of the island were also responding to a report of a stabbing, this time at Burkes Village, St Joseph.

The victim, villager Ojay Sargeant, 25, had stab wounds to his left side, head, right arm, right shoulder and right index finger.
