Local News News BAMP executive council asked to resign after no confidence vote Emmanuel Joseph19/07/20203291 views Members of the local medical fraternity have thrown out the entire executive council of their umbrella representative organisation. The dramatic move came during a rescheduled annual general meeting of the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP), held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC) and online last evening. An official close to the meeting, who asked not to be named, told Barbados TODAY that an unprecedented motion of no confidence in the BAMP Council was passed despite attempts to disallow it. “The entire BAMP Council was asked to resign and to seek a new mandate of support from the general body,” the official said. Dr Lynda Williams was elected unopposed as the new president of BAMP succeeding Dr Abdon DaSilva. “Sweeping changes were instituted with a fresh, new young council instituted. Voting members showed their displeasure with the incumbent council and its handling of the association’s affairs,” the official said. (EJ)
