In a letter sent to LIAT employees, a copy of which has been obtained by 268 TODAY, Reifer-Jones confirmed her resignation, effective July 31, 2020. In the letter, Reifer-Jones said she had tendered her resignation earlier, but had been asked by Shareholders and the Board of Directors to stay on. But the appointment of an Administrator by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, charged with reorganizing LIAT, paved the way for Reifer-Jones’ departure. According to Reifer-Jones, the Administrator has been charged with paving the way forward for LIAT. Guyana-born Cleveland Seaforth was appointed Administrator on July 25. Reifer-Jones expressed gratitude to the staff for their support and charged them to continue the fight in maintaining successful regional air travel. Reifer-Jones — who is Barbadian — was appointed LIAT’s Chief Financial Officer in 2008 and was subsequently appointed CEO in 2017 — the first woman to be appointed CEO of LIAT.
