Leacock admits to 14 offences

As Kimien Chescilia Keno Leacock entered the dock of the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court he declared, “I plan to plead guilty, I ain’t come here to waste no time.”

The 35-year-old, of no fixed place of abode, also said, “Three [charges] for Boarded Hall and the rest is yours. I plan to plead guilty to all 17 charges. Understand.”

He was addressing Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant even before she could go through the several charge sheets handed to her by the prosecutor.

After telling the magistrate he was not represented by counsel, Leacock admitted to 14 of the charges. No plea was taken for the three from the District ‘B’ jurisdiction.

Most of his crimes, which were committed last month, fall under the Theft Act and span a period of four days.

Leacock’s crime spree began on July 26 when he wounded and assaulted Wendell Jones with intent to rob him; unlawfully and maliciously wounded Sandrene Greenidge-Jones and assaulted Joni Roye causing actual bodily harm.

Between July 27 and 28 he entered the house of Terry Richards as a trespasser and stole a laptop, bicycle, drill and power saw worth $2 800. He also admitted to a charge of entering the home of Petrona Rollins and stealing three pairs of earrings and a chain belonging to the homeowner and a pair of shoes belonging to Kerry Rollins for a total value on $1,300.

He also entered Lisa Atherley’s house and took a chain, three shirts, and a gym bag worth $400 and belonging to Sanjay Thomas.

During that time he also damaged a motorcar belonging to Steve Oxley and a door belonging to Krystle Howell as well as burglarised the Bulldog Bar and stole $1,647 in items including $920 cash, the property of Whitney Weekes.

On July 29 he burgalarised Russell Caddle’s home of 12 tins of sardines, six drinks and a cellular phone totaling $151 and also the home of Michael Webb where he made away with $172.50 worth of items including a knife and sheath.

Leacock also entered the home of Ulpian Brade and stole a number for food items totaling $55. That day he was also found in possession of a knife on Combermere Street, a public place, without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

He ventured to the District ‘B’ jurisdiction on July 27 and is alleged to have assaulted Amos Job causing actual bodily harm and robbed him of $250 in cash. Leacock is further accused of damaging a motor vehicle belonging to Clorita Job.

The convicted man will return to the Bridgetown court this Thursday, August 6 when the prosecution will outline the facts of his 14 crimes before Magistrate Cuffy-Sargeant sentences him. The Boarded Hall charges will be dealt with at that time.
Leacock is now on remand at HMP Dodds.
