Teen on wanted police bulletin misses court

Wanted teen Rovaldo Rahkim Roberts, of Grant’s Gap, Westbury Road, St Michael was a no show in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today.

The 18-year-old, an inmate on remand at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds was made a subject of a wanted police bulletin earlier this month after he escaped lawful custody while on the precincts of the Supreme Court on Friday, July 31.

When his name was called today Roberts’ sister and mother were the ones who appeared in the witness box. When Magistrate Douglas Frederick informed his mother that her son was expected to be at the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today she replied, “I have not seen him since two Fridays ago. Police ain’t find him yet.”

Magistrate Frederick issued a warrant for his arrest. “In Barbados, this is a small place. If you see him of course inform the police,” he said.

The accused had appeared before Frederick on July 24 charged that on July 22 he assaulted Renice Roberts occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Roberts was remanded to reappear in court today and was also given a July 31 date to appear before the Juvenile Court which is located at the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Frederick adjourned the matter against the accused sine die.
