Local News News Republic Bank closes Airport Branch and Bureau de Change Barbados Today31/08/20202422 views Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited (RBBL) has permanently closed its Airport Branch and Bureau de Change. In light of the current physical distancing measures that have been strictly enforced, the branch – RBBL’s smallest – presented some unique challenges and the decision was made to permanently close the location. Noting that the Airport Branch had been in operation for over 40 years, Managing Director and CEO Anthony Clerk explained: “Many factors contributed to the decision to close this operation such as increasing costs coupled with the fact that the Airport branch is a small branch and presented many challenges. Logistically, it was no longer feasible for us to continue our operations there under the current conditions given the physical distancing protocols for both our customers and staff. The safety and wellbeing of our staff and our customers remain our priority. With this in mind, we regrettably took the decision to close the branch. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and assure our customers that their accounts will be transferred to our Six Roads location where our team of friendly and reliable staff will be waiting to serve you. In this regard, all impacted customers will be notified formally. We thank our customers and staff for their patience and understanding.” All 17 staff members who worked at the Airport will be reassigned throughout our network. Mr. Clerk explained, “Reassigning our employees is of course in keeping with the Bank’s long-standing commitment to our staff to maintain jobs. I want to thank them for their excellent service throughout these challenging times.”(PR)
