Alleged burglar to be evaluated

A 25-year-old man of no fixed place of abode will have a roof over his head for the next three weeks at least.

Leron Alexander Wilfred Bennett will spend that time at the Psychiatric Hospital, in Black Rock, St Michael, being assessed by doctors on his fitness to plead to a number of criminal charges.

He will next appear before Magistrate Manila Renee in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on September 28.

Bennett allegedly entered Buckarro’s Bar as a trespasser between February 12 and 13 and stole $300 and a $150 drawer.

He is further accused of breaking into the establishment that same month – between 26 and 27 February – and stealing nine bottles of brandy, three bottles of Whiskey and $60 cash.

Bennett is alleged to have targeted the business again between August 29 and 30 when he stole a box of corned beef, 30 tins of luncheon meat, six malts, a can of corn, 12 packets of ketchup and a bicycle totaling $1 051. All the property belongs to Steven Went.
