Two bailed, one remanded in assault and robbery case

Three St Michael men appeared in a Bridgetown Court accused of causing serious bodily harm to another.

They are Kemo Avery Grant, 25, of No. 115 Denton Road, Grazettes; Tyreke Shamario Scantlebury, 17, of No. 116 Denton Road, Grazettes and Adio Omari Pile-Agard, 23, of Ulster Road Grazettes.

The three were not required to plead to the charge that they intended to maim, disfigure or disable Dimitrio McCollin or to do him some serious bodily harm on August 27, 2020. They are also accused of robbing him of a chain worth $2700 on the same day. Grant pleaded guilty to the robbery offence while the other two men denied it.

Prosecutor Sergeant Edwin Pinder objected to Pile-Agard and Grant’s bail based on the serious nature of the offence, the alleged use of a firearm in the commission of the offence and fear that they could abscond. In the case of Grant, the prosecution also raised the fact that he had antecedents of a similar nature.

There was no objection to Scantlebury’s bail and there was mitigation offered on Pile-Agard’s behalf. Both of them were granted $5000 bail with conditions to report to Black Rock police station. Grant was remanded for 28 days by Magistrate Allison Burke sitting in the District “A” Traffic Court.
