Crown Events Inc. will be selecting a Miss Universe Barbados 2020 to represent the country at the global pageant, scheduled for early 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the health protocols in place around the world, the Miss Universe Organization has advised franchise holders that foremost of concern to the organization is ensuring the safety of all involved. Crown Events, through regular consultations with the Miss Universe Organization, and guided by the protocols in place in Barbados, weighed all the options while keeping safety best-practices at the forefront. This year, therefore, in the midst of these unprecedented times, Miss Universe Barbados 2020, will take the format of an exciting new telecast called “The Making of a Queen”. The show will feature former Queens Shannon Harris, Lesley Chapman-Andrews, Meghan Theobalds, taking the audience on a journey behind the scenes to witness all the elements that went into taking them from the local stage, to across the global stage in front of nearly one billion viewers. It will also follow them and reigning Queen Hillary-Ann Williams around the country, as they highlight the best features of Barbados, while sharing its culture with the world. In a virtual press conference, national director of Miss Universe Barbados, Brian Green, also formally announced new title sponsor as M.A.C. Cosmetics in Broad Street. This exciting partnership with the 30-year old global makeup powerhouse is a strong indicator of the growing appeal of the Miss Universe Barbados brand. The Making of a Queen will be aired to nearly five million homes on November 7, 2020 at 8 p.m., with the announcement of the next titleholder who will represent Barbados on the international stage at the end of the telecast.
