#BTColumn – There are leaks in the party dear Verla, dear Verla

Why did we hear the announcement of the Democratic Labour Party’s (DLP) candidate for the St George North by-election via the media?

Why didn’t the DLP president Verla DePeiza not hold a press conference and make the announcement formally similar to Prime Minister Mia Mottley announcing Toni Moore’s official venture into politics?

I believe the DLP president needs to be mindful of the persons who she has around her because someone beat her to that announcement by leaking it either to the press or to the Government  who then spoiled her thunder.

Miss DePeiza seems a decent woman but she does appear very  media savvy. Perhaps, the DLP needs to enhance its PR team.

Miss Mottley is a guru at PR and has influence in probably every media house in the island. One can just look at the number of media people she has under her employ officially . . . and unofficially behind the scenes.

I suspect that someone from within the DLP leaked the news  on Floyd Reifer to upstage Miss DePeiza.

By George, I know am right!
