Top four singers advance to world championships

Rebekah Carter, Damien Smith O’Neil Harvey and Cindy Springer will be flying the colours of the Barbados national flag in the year’s first on-line KWC Karaoke
World Championships.

The four received the approval of the judges and that of the packed audience when the Media Link Productions’ KWC Barbados final took place at Dre’s Place in Pelican Village on Sunday night.

Twelve finalists took to the stage all eager to make the final four.

In the end it was Carter who sang Whitney Houston’s two selections: I Have Nothing and All The Man I Need, Smith with Never Enough by Loren Alfred and This is My Life by Shirley Bassey, Harvey with Ernie Smith’s One Dream and Suspicious Minds made popular by Elvis Presley and Springer who sang Kelly Clarkson’s Because Of You and Then You Look At Me by Celine Dion that swept to the top four positions.

There were several other outstanding performances on the night by the other eight contestants but unfortunately only the top four could have advanced.

The Barbadian quartet will now move
to the next stage where they will have to record three videos each which will be submitted to KWC for judging.

This on-line competition is being held to replace the regular KWC Karaoke World Championships that was due to take place in Canada this year but will now take place next year.

It has attracted over ninety singers from over twenty countries. Dates for the final are November 2 – 7 this year.
