Cummins’ Green tech making waves

The work of Barbadian-born innovator and entrepreneur Carlton Cummins is continuing to create international buzz in the green technologies space.

Aceleron, the British-based company which he co-founded with business partner Amrit Chandan, has made it into the inaugural BGF 10 Green Tech to Watch list. BGF is an investment company in the United Kingdom that works with growing companies in multiple sectors, providing a range of support, including funding and expertise.

The list was published in early September in the Tech Track 100 supplement of Britain’s Sunday Times.

As explained in the publication, the list “identifies a cross-section of privately-owned UK companies that are developing technology to help mitigate or reverse the effects of human activity on the environment”.

The inclusion in the list is another vote of confidence in Cummins and Chandan’s work in developing recyclable lithium-ion batteries as a means of storing and providing clean energy.

Barbadians can source one of the company’s leading, energy storage products – the Offgen Battery System – from local suppliers.

Following the publishing of the list, a statement shared on Aceleron’s website read, in part: “We are thrilled to feature on BGF’s inaugural 10 Green Tech companies to watch listed in the Sunday Times Tech Track . . . What a testament to our serviceable, upgradable and recyclable lithium-ion batteries that are providing access to clean energy around the world.”

Founded in 2016, Aceleron is the youngest company on the list. It stands alongside businesses that each provide different green technology solutions such as tree-free office paper and packaging materials, low energy ventilation, lighting and cooling systems, and lithium-sulphur batteries.

The companies were judged based on several criteria, including the development of patented technology.

Joe Kempton, reporter at Sunday Times Fast Track wrote: “Co-founders Carlton Cummins and Amrit Chandan, both 31, represent a new generation of entrepreneurs, combining a commitment to ethical enterprise with the latest technical skills.”

Come November, an overall winner will be announced and presented with an award sponsored by BGF at the Tech Track 100 awards event. (PR)
