Minister Abrahams welcomes new Chairman and Directors of CBC board

The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has a new Chairman and two new Directors.

The new appointee at the helm of the Board is Mr. Christopher de Caires who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in various fields, including accounting, finance, investment, insurance, entrepreneurship and private sector development.

De Caires assumed the position of Chair with effect from October 12, when the appointment to the Board of the former acting Chairman Sharon Christie ended.

Also joining the team as Board Directors are Hutson R. Best, who, in addition will serve as Deputy Chairman and David A. C. Alleyne. These appointments also took effect on October 12, 2020.

Best’s valuable expertise in finance, forecasting and capital expansion and Alleyne’s trajectory in insurance, reinsurance and executive management, further strengthen the skills sets on the Board.

The Minister of Home Affairs, Information and Public Affairs Wilfred. A. Abrahams met with the Board this morning and formally welcomed the new members.

Minister Abrahams sees the restructuring and repositioning of the CBC as a key priority for the Government of Barbados. Noting that there are new business streams in broadcasting-related services that CBC, with creativity, investment and sound management can embark upon, the Minister looks forward to the newly constituted eleven-member Board leading and motivating the Corporation to transform itself into a strong, innovative revenue-earner for the economy.
