Antigua records death from COVID-19

The Health Ministry says the fourth individual to die from COVID-19 in Antigua and Barbuda is suspected to have suffered cardiac arrest.

The 58-year-old male visitor arrived in Antigua on Nov. 6 to carry out maintenance work at the Antigua Power Company.

He tested positive for COVID-19 after a nasopharyngeal swab was taken five days later.

The Ministry says the visitor was immediately isolated and contact-tracing carried out. He died Friday evening at Mount St John’s Medical Centre.

Health Ministry officials are said to have met with APC management and several contacts of the visitor have been identified and placed into quarantine.

Antigua and Barbuda’s COVID-19 case count is now at 133 with four active cases.
