BWA Crews Investigating Reports of Another Burst on 12-inch Main in St. Philip

The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) wishes to advise residents in some parts of St. Philip and St. George currently impacted by a water outage that today Friday, November 20th its crews are investigating a suspected burst on the 12-inch main which supplies the districts of Brereton, Ebenezer, Windsor, Campaign Castle, Edgecumbe and the immediate surrounding areas.

Background

Over the course of the past few days, the Barbados Water Authority would have been challenged to respond to several bursts on the same main. On Tuesday, November 17th a burst was reported on a 12-inch main in Edgecumbe, St. Philip which would have affected customers in the abovementioned areas. That repair was completed by evening on the same day. The following day, Wednesday, November 18th another burst was discovered in a different location on the same main. The affected areas were the same. Once again, repairs were completed by evening on the very Wednesday. The same situation recurred on Thursday, November 19th and repairs were again completed by late Thursday evening. In all three cases, because a number of bursts had occurred on the same main, the same catchment areas would have been impacted. The Authority will make every effort to assist residents in the affected districts via tanker in the interim and customers will be kept updated on the progress of the work via our Facebook page (bwa.bb) or Instagram (@bwa.bb).

Crews are today also carrying out repairs to burst mains in Paynes Bay, St. James; Lamberts and Rockfield in St. Lucy while investigating suspected bursts in Callendars and Chancery Lane in Christ Church and St. Barnabas in St. Michael.

The BWA apologizes for the inconvenience these service disruptions have caused. (BWA)
