A young man from St Philip appeared in the High Court today and pleaded guilty to having a Glock 17 pistol and 13 rounds of .9mm ammunition.

Amir Oladelle Blackman, 18, of River Land, St Philip entered the plea before Madam Justice Pamela Beckles admitting to the offence which occurred between May 31 and June 5, 2019.

The convict’s attorneys-at-law Michael Lashley Q.C. and Seantelle Parris requested a pre-sentencing report on him which is expected by January 7, 2021.

The defence team and Crown Counsel Romario Straker, who is the prosecutor in the case, will make sentencing submissions in the No. 5 Supreme Court on February 18, 2020. The time Blackman has spent on remand is also expected to be read in.

In outlining the facts the prosecutor revealed that the illegal weapon and ammunition were found when police executed a search warrant at Blackman’s residence on June 5 around 4: 05 a.m.

During their investigations Blackman explained to police how he came into possession of the weapon which, he said, previously belonged to his deceased brother.
