Assault accused on remand till December 17

An unemployed man charged with two counts of unlawful assault, was sent to prison today.

Galviston Athelson Burke, 42, of no fixed place of abode appeared in the District “A” court before Magistrate Allison Burke accused of unlawfully assaulting Kevin Barker and Terry Parris on October 24, 2020.

Burke pleaded not guilty on both counts.

The prosecution objected to bail based on the fact that the accused is already on bail in another court, that he had not appeared in court since July 23, 2019, that his surety had had to forfeit $1,000 to the court due to his no-show and that he may not attend court again if granted bail.

The magistrate bought the prosecution’s argument and remanded Burke to Her Majesty’s Prison, Dodds, St Philip until December 17, 2020.
