Enough is enough

Frustrated G4S employees this morning staged a work stoppage demanding better working conditions.

The workers charge that repeated calls for their employers to address issues including better working conditions, the hiring of security guards, new uniforms, overtime and vacation pay have not been addressed.

Industrial Relations Officer of the Barbados Workers Union Shakeda Williams says the union is firmly standing with the workers and their issues deserved urgent attention.

“It’s time that we no longer have constant meetings and not making much movement.

“Why it is that they [workers] are always seen as a last resort to get the attention from those who they need to get the attention from. So the BWU is here with them in solidarity,” she said.
