Accused claims police brutality

The man on trial for allegedly robbing a Surepay Cashier at gunpoint claims he was beaten by police and signed statements under duress.

Kedar Ondre Holloway, of Block 2D Sunnyside Court, Deacon’s Farm, St Michael, who is charged with robbing Stacia Williams of $816.17 belonging to Massy Technologies on December 13, 2013, claimed officers “fabricated everything”.

Representing himself in the High Court matter, Holloway was today cross-examining prosecution witness, Sergeant Frank Olton, who told the court that all the statements were “free and voluntarily given” by Holloway.

During the questioning, Holloway indicated that from the time he was taken into custody, Olton and other officers took off his clothes and “bagged and wrapped” him in heavy-duty plastic.  He also said newspaper was placed around his hand and he was hand-cuffed behind his back.

The police witness dismissed all the allegations as untrue.

The case continues tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. in the No. 2 Supreme Court where Senior Crown Counsel Olivia Davis is the prosecuting before Justice Randall Worrell.
