Faith gets ‘sound approval’ for music video

All eyes turned to the screen at the Copacabana for the premiere of performer Faith Callender’s Don’t Break Yet music video last Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. In the past week, the singer has been teasing her fans with visuals from the filming of the video, so anticipation was high when the venue darkened for the viewing.

Filmed on location at the Sandy Lane Hotel, the series of seductive images reflecting the lyrics of Callender’s popular 2020 release got an instant reaction. Loud screams of appreciation pierced the night air as attendees demanded a replay immediately after the initial showing.

The reaction was especially heart-warming for the artiste since it was a passion project for her.

“This video is really special to me. Hence, why I did a whole big launch party. This is my baby, from my brain to the screen. I did the video treatment; I knew exactly how I wanted it to look. I knew what type of girls I wanted, I knew the whole vibe,”  she explained.

Since the release of the track in June, it has been enjoying massive airplay. Addressing the audience, Callender acknowledged, “I knew a music video was inevitable for this song Wbecause when I released it, you guys gave it so much love.”

She admits that though there was some trepidation about how people would react, after a reality check she embraced that it is authentic to her and that people would love it, regardless.

The performer is filled with gratitude for those involved in the production process and made a call to support local artistes.

“I have to say a huge thank you to the NCF for sure for making this possible through the COVID-19 Technical Assistance Grant. I think it is really important to invest in the arts and invest in us because you know the arts can be really expensive,” she noted.

Callender extended thanks to videographer Kristopher Krisshotit Streek and the multi-talented Andre Clarke who shifted from behind the keyboard as 2Mile Hill band member to work alongside the camera, assuming the role of director.

The private launch provided a much-appreciated opportunity to be on the outside. Among those observed in the audience were entertainment managers Ingrid Holder of Livewire Entertainment, Ruel Ward of Pyramid Entertainment, and long-standing party promoter Freddy Hill. Several performers from across multiple genres were also on hand for the event. (ST)
