BT Independence Feature: Hustle and Harte

Julian Harte and Margaret Lee were two out of thousands of casualties of the COVID-19 economic fallout. But they did not stay down for too long.

They quickly came up with a plan, banking on talents they already possessed, to start a business venture called iHarte Pizza, a clever and charming spin on Julian’s surname.

Both received the gut-wrenching news in late March – just days after the first cases of COVID-10 hit Barbados’ shores – that they were out of work. Unfortunately for Margaret, her fate was permanent as she was let go from her cleaning job.

“I was terrified when I got my termination letter,” said Margaret, the more vocal of the two. “I was like, what am I going to do?”

The praying woman spoke to a friend who agreed to invest in the startup of the pizza business.

Julian told Barbados TODAY he was accustomed to making and selling pizza, and he thought it was a good idea to branch out and do that fulltime with his friend Margaret since they were both unemployed.
