US Ambassador and Marines deliver gifts to children’s home

Christmas came early for the boys and girls at the Nightingale Children’s Home. On Friday, December 18, over 50 children were delighted to receive toys from US Ambassador Linda Taglialatela and US Marines on staff at the US Embassy.

The toys, games, and clothing were donated by Barbadian and American employees at the US Embassy in Bridgetown, through the annual Toys for Tots campaign.

Started in 1947, Toys for Tots is an official mission of the Marine Corps Reserve to collect toys in the months leading up to Christmas and deliver them to children in need as a message of hope and caring. Since its start, Toys for Tots has supported more than 265 million children around the world.

“At the US Embassy, we recognise the importance of being part of the community. I am happy to celebrate with the US Marine Corps by bringing these gifts made possible through the generosity of our Embassy employees. We wish all Barbadians who celebrate a very Merry Christmas!” said Ambassador Taglialatela. (PR)
