Simon Alleyne today resigned from the party he has served for more than a decade. He said in a brief statement: “I can confirm that I have officially resigned from the Democratic Labour Party. I am grateful for the years of service I have given to the party. But at this point, as I reflect on the years in my life, and the future of Barbados and myself, my skill sets can be better utilised elsewhere. “ I do want to take this opportunity to wish the executive and the general council of the DLP all the best and I do hope that we continue to focus on making Barbados a better place.” Alleyne, has served as the party’s second vice president, and spokesman on health among other roles.
