COVID-19 Update: 14 new COVID-19 cases recorded

The island recorded one COVID-19 related death – a 91-year-old woman – on Sunday, January 24. This brings the total number of deaths since March 2020, to 10.
Fourteen new positive cases were also recorded yesterday from the 262 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory, while 15 persons were released from isolation.
The number of active cases now stands at 742. The new positives comprise seven men and seven women. Of these, five are individuals who would have been sent previously to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for assessment.
There were no new positive cases recorded at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds, so the cases there remain at 360 – 102 staff members and 258 inmates.
To date, Barbados has recorded 1,401 cases – 553 females and 848 males, and 649 persons have recovered.
The public health laboratory has so far completed 99,799 tests.
