The Rotaract Club of Barbados celebrates five years

Doing Community Service, The Cranberry Way

The Rotaract Club of Barbados is a youth-led, non-profit organization aimed towards community service and professional development. The club was officially chartered on February 3rd, 2016 and celebrates their fifth charter anniversary this month. Throughout those five years the club has transformed tremendously from a handful of (mostly) strangers, with youth and a passion for community service the only common ground, into an ever-expanding family of young professionals for whom “Service Above Self” is not just a motto, but a way of life.

Affectionately known as “Cranberries” due to their official club color, the club has developed a reputation for crafting outstanding projects and shaping outstanding young leaders. The club is the current holder of consecutive “Most Outstanding Project” awards for the regions spanning USA, Canada and the Caribbean. The 2018-2019 winner, “Once Upon A Time” was a literacy-based project which continuously morphed and grew from what was initially a PSA to include a book drive, library renovation and spelling bee in order to have a greater impact. This project encapsulates The Cranberry Way, a commitment to excellence and ‘extraness’ that is driven by a desire to have a more significant impact.

While there have been many changes and challenges from year one to year five, two things have always persisted and remain the foundation of the club, stellar leadership and an unwavering commitment to serving the community.

Ms. Rashida Prescod RaCOB President 2020-2021.
