Public warned about fake COVID-19 fund

Members of the public are advised to be aware of a bogus notice making the rounds on social media, which invites persons to apply for financial assistance from an alleged COVID-19 Support Grant Fund.

The notice purportedly promises a payout within 24 hours of submitting an application. The Ministry of Energy, Small Business and Entrepreneurship has stated that Government has not issued such a notice, and is urging the public not to respond to any notices of this sort on social media.

All notices issued by Government, which are of a public interest, are done through the Barbados Government Information Service and are disseminated via traditional and social media.

The public is asked to be guided accordingly. (BGIS)
