Local News News Former LIAT workers get assistance from good Samaritan Barbados Today09/03/2021052 views A good Samaritan has come forward to assist some of the former employees of LIAT. Sometime last week, well-known social activist Kammie Holder was able to track down one of the former employees after seeing his video on social media. The heart-wrenching video resonated deeply with Mr. Holder who then pledged to assist. He sprang into action and also secured the assistance of other members of the farming community. Yesterday afternoon, the avid aviation enthusiast met with a small group of the former colleagues at the headquarters of the NUPW, and delivered a plethora of vegetables and ground provisions, foodstuff and water, to aid the group as they struggle through their continued suffering without severance. Mr. Holder was also able to secure the support of Crumbz Bakery, which donated twelve crates of bread and cakes to the cause. While not seeking any publicity from the gesture, Mr. Holder insisted that it is the least he could do in the circumstances. He reported that even the fisherfolk from in the north of the island are eager to jump at the opportunity, citing that they recall how LIAT and its crew were a critical instrument in the search for any of their vessels stranded at sea. The humble employees wish to publicly express their heart-felt gratitude to Mr. Holder, Crumbz Bakery, and the members of the farming community for their well-received generosity. (PR)
