Local News News $12 000 gift from Kooyman Barbados Today Traffic11/03/20210498 views Kooyman has donated $12,000 to three local charities. Red Foundation, Rotary Club of Barbados and Kiwanis Club Pride of Barbados each recently received funds to assist them with ongoing projects. Marketing Officer, Charlene Mullin stated: “While we usually donate funds under our three pillars of Youth and Education, Sustainability and Poverty Reduction, due to the environment of the last year we restricted these donations to Poverty Reduction only. The projects from each charity matched our efforts for this cause.” The amount of $7,000 was presented to The Rotary Club of Barbados to assist with efforts at the Marina Brewster Centre at Farrs and also with support for families in need. The funds were received by president of the club Fiona Hinds, president elect Robin Ford and director of community service Adrian Skeete. During the month of December, Kiwanis Club Pride of Barbados delivered groceries for thirty families including a family of seventeen who recently lost their home in a blaze. These families were given hampers that included personal care items, non-perishable goods, dairy, poultry and snacks. Project coordinator Diana Goodridge-Lovell said: “The club has been assisting families since its inception in 2008 and the donation from Kooyman has been the largest single donation by a corporate entity since the start of the pandemic and was the driving force behind the club’s ability to assist several families despite an inability to host fundraising activities as a result of the impact of COVID-19.” The amount of $2,500 was presented to distinguished president Diana Goodridge-Lovell and president Shari Morris. RED Foundation was founded in 2017 by Barbados’ Cultural Ambassador Stedson Red Plastic Bag Wiltshire out of his desire to give back to the society that has contributed so much to his success over the years. The charity plans to use the funds to continue to support families who have been hard hit by the global pandemic. The amount of $2,500 was presented to patron Wiltshire, chairman Alvin Jemmott and deputy chairman Henderson Griffith. Store manager Harold Stolwijk affirmed his support to each charity and thanked them for the work they were doing in the local communities.
