BWA experiencing disruptions at some stations in the north

The Barbados Water Authority wishes to inform the public that today Sunday, March 21, it is experiencing service disruptions at some of its facilities in the north.

The interruptions in supply have resulted from burst mains in the areas of St Silas, St James and Haggatts, St Andrew.

Repairs to the main in St Silas will affect St Silas, Waterhall Terrace, Buccaneer Terrace, Orange Hill and surrounding districts while repairs in Haggatts are expected to impact Coggins Hill, Haggatts, Bissex, Cambridge and surrounding areas.

In addition, customers in parts of St Peter and St Lucy may also experience interruptions in water supply. This is due to repairs being carried out to damaged electric poles by Barbados Light and Power (BLPC) crews.

Where possible the BWA will switch to generator power to reduce the impact. In order to rectify the above situations, certain BWA stations will have to be taken offline.

Reservoir levels at some facilities will in turn be impacted, so residents of the affected districts will experience low water pressure or outages during the day.

Today, Sunday, the Authority has also suffered low reservoir levels at Golden Ridge which will result in low pressure and water outages to some St John, and St Joseph districts.

The Authority will assist persons in the outage areas via tanker as a temporary measure.

Once all repairs have been completed however, it will take some time for the systems to return to normal. The BWA apologizes for the inconvenience caused by these service disruptions.
