Covid-19 Local News News COVID-19 Update: One death, eight new cases, 28 recoveries Barbados Today22/03/20210137 views COVID-19 claimed the life of its 40th victim on Saturday, March 20, when a 61-year-old Barbadian woman passed away at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility. The deceased who suffered from non-communicable diseases had been a patient at the facility for 25 days during which time she was in Primary Intensive Care on a ventilator. Eight positive cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed on Sunday, March 21. The new cases – three men and five women – were identified from among the 261 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Meanwhile, 28 persons recovered and were released from isolation. The number of cases in isolation is 161. Since the pandemic began, there have been 3,559 confirmed cases – 1,704 females and 1,855 males – and 3,358 people have recovered from the virus. The public health laboratory has so far completed 136,463 tests. As part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 624 people were vaccinated on Sunday. To date, a total of 61,752 vaccinations have been administered – 25,746 men and 36,006 women. (BGIS)
