COVID-19 UPDATE: 20 new cases, 14 recovered

Twenty people tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, March 27, from the 358 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Seven men and 13 women made up the new cases.  Additionally, 14 persons recovered from the viral illness and were discharged.  There are currently 160 persons in isolation.

The number of confirmed cases recorded since March 2020 is 3,629 – 1,745 females and 1,884 males – and 3,436 people have recovered from the virus.  Forty-one people have died from COVID-19.

A total of 139,775 tests have been carried out by the public health laboratory since February, last year.

The first phase of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 has come to an end, therefore, no vaccinations were done on Saturday.  The second phase, which will see persons receiving their second dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, will start from Saturday, April 17.

To date, 63,689 vaccinations have been administered – 26,325 men and 37,364 women. (BGIS)
