The architect of the Central Bank of Barbados has passed away and left his persons who loved him behind. He was the first governor and longest – serving governor of the Central Bank of Barbados.

He reorganised the finances of the country and advised the prime ministers of Barbados and the Caribbean in financial matters.

A truly brilliant person and no colour or greed could match his brain. A very patient man who was cool and composed at all times. Took care of the staff as he was their father and he chose his committed members.

I had the honour to work with him and his committees and he listened to the needs of the manufacturers. He set up funds for them and under the able staff he had it worked well for exports.

He had a foresight and a crystal ball and he worked with his heart. Today I would like to pay my respects to a great leader and a true friend. I will personally miss him – he had taught me a lot. God bless his family and our condolences to them. Great people are born not made.

He has left us but his footprint will always be with us.

“A good fragrance of fresh air.” Barbados has been blessed to have such great leaders.
