Goddard takes over leadership of BARJAM

The Barbados Association of Journalists and Media Workers (BARJAM) has a new President.

Starcom Network Senior Journalist Keith Goddard was voted as the new president of the association during its annual election, held virtually on Sunday evening.

He will officially take up the position in a month from outgoing president, veteran journalist Emmanuel Joseph, who served two consecutive terms.

Goddard, who joined the media in 1998 at the then Barbados Rediffusion, later worked at the Barbados Advocate on the business desk, before returning to broadcast at the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) and then later at the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation.

He also worked at the Grantley Adams International Airport as its Corporate Communication Specialist prior to his current role at the Starcom Network.

He opted not to disclose any immediate plans for the association, but indicated that there will be a “broadening and increasing of membership”, and utilization of all the talents and skills.

“I am humbled by the confidence the members have reposed in me. I do not take it lightly and know that a lot will be expected of the new executive,” said Goddard.

“We know the issues that are important to the members and those who are yet to join BARJAM, and I am confident that we have a solid team that will work in their best interest,” he added.

The rest of the board members are Vice President Ryan Broome of CBC; General Secretary Emmanuel Joseph of Barbados TODAY; Treasurer Marlon Madden of Barbados TODAY; Public Relations Officer Deanzer Roberts, Public Relations Consultant; and floor members Anesta Henry of Barbados TODAY, Wendy Burke of Starcom Network and Maria Bradshaw of the Nation newspaper.
