News Salvation Army urging Barbadians to donate Barbados Today16/04/20210280 views The Salvation Army has issued an urgent call for donations towards the outreach effort to assist citizens of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, in coping with the ongoing calamity caused by the erupting La Soufrière Volcano. Divisional Commander Major Brenda Greenidge said people affected or displaced by the volcanic eruptions were in dire need of basic supplies including drinking water and toiletries such as toothpaste and soap, toilet paper, household bleach, sanitary napkins, and deodorant. Donations can be delivered to The Salvation Army Headquarters at Reed Street, Bridgetown. Major Greenidge said The Army was also accepting cash donations towards the effort, given the current limited access to supermarkets and retail outlets, as a result of COVID-19 protocols or ash fallout. “The Salvation Army in Kingstown, St. Vincent is mobilised to get the necessary items to the affected persons, and we in Barbados are part of a larger effort to ensure that the response is adequate. “We are making arrangements to have the items transported by the Coast Guard and we know that we can count on Barbadians to come to the aid of their neighbours in this time of need,” Major Greenidge said.
