Barbados Statistical Service household listing service begins on May 31

In preparation for the upcoming Population and Housing Census, scheduled to begin on August 1, 2021, the Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) will be conducting a household listing exercise throughout the island.

It will begin on Monday, May 31, and according to the BSS, it will provide a record of where households are, as well as basic information on all buildings on the island, residential or otherwise, thereby ensuring the upcoming census is accurately completed.

The BSS has given the assurance that all information collected will be kept in the strictest confidence and only used for statistical purposes.

Personnel from the Statistical Service conducting the listing will be carrying photo identification, and the department is appealing to members of the public to cooperate with them.

Although officers will be visiting households, they will not be entering the homes of respondents, in accordance with the BSS survey protocols. In addition, they will adhere to the national COVID-19 protocols, and householders are advised to do the same. (NP/BGIS)
