Bajan wins Pittsburgh Leader of the Year Award

Barbadian Sonia Layne-Gartside was one of three women to win the prestigious Leader of the Year Award in the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association’s (PHRA) Engaging Pittsburgh: Innovative People Practices Award.

The awards, which have been held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for over two decades, seek to recognise employers and employees from across the region whohave demonstrated creativity in designing business practices.

Layne-Gartside who is an Executive Coach, Master Trainer, Change Manager and DEI Consultant said she was humbled and shocked to win the award.

“I feel honoured to have won this award, I think to be nominated was indeed an honour and to win made it even more meaningful. I feel that it is a testimony to the work I do with my global clients and I also feel that it is a real pleasure to be a member of this community that acknowledges and focuses on and awards the work of Human Resource practitioners and talent management practitioners in the area,” she said.

Layne-Gartside who is a former student of Alexandra School is an international consultant who drives organisational performance through evidence-based practices. Speaking to the media the awardee said she had a passion to help businesses achieve optimal results.

“I am passionate about helping leaders achieve business results. My work focuses on improving the performance of people and the systems they work in. I am there cheering on people with their ideas or working tirelessly to help my clients all around the world to create environments where people can thrive,” she said.

Layne-Gartside is passionate about her clients and this is seen in her debut book Workplace Anxiety: How To Refuel and Re-Engage where she explains her creative ways that persons can conquer stress, anxiety and fear of uncertainty at work and unleash their power and empower themselves mentally, physically and emotionally to lead a company to thrive.

Lisa Petro who is the President of (PHRA) Engaging Pittsburgh: Innovative People Practices Award, said all of the nominees demonstrated why people matter.

“This year’s nominees have all demonstrated that people matter and are the key to the success of their business. That understanding was illustrated by this year’s Engaging Pittsburgh finalist by allowing their employees to grow, develop and reach greater levels of success personally and professionally and for the organisation,”
she said. (Write Right PR Services)
