Update: 44-year-old man shot in Massiah Street, St John

A 44-year-old man is nursing gunshot injuries after a shooting incident that occurred around 8:10 a.m. in Massiah Street, St John.

Police said the victim, whose name has not been disclosed, was walking through a track when he was approached by two armed men who fired at him.

The assailants ran away from the scene.

The victim was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.

When Barbados TODAY visited the area, operator of the Golden Shottz Bar, Claudette Alleyne said she heard about ten gunshots around 8 a.m.

“I didn’t see what happened with the shooting, but I heard the shots. There were about ten shots.

Police are continuing investigations.
