‘Drug running’ trial starts Monday

A nine-member jury was empanelled Friday as the case against an accused drug runner is set to begin on Monday.

When Anderson Bridgeman appeared in Supreme Court No.2 before Justice Randall Worrell on Friday, he pleaded not guilty to three drug-related charges.

Bridgeman, of Belleplaine Housing Area, St Andrew, denied that he had 1,394 pounds of cannabis in his possession on July 17, 2012.

He also denied trafficking and importing the drug.

Senior Crown Counsel Olivia Davis is appearing on behalf of the Crown while Arthur Holder, Rhea Layne, Nkasi Blair, Maria Arthur and Ensley Grainger are representing Bridgeman.
