Man guilty of sex crimes against teenager

Daniel Emmanuel Hinds was today found guilty of two charges related to the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl.

The Mount #2, St Peter resident had been on trial before a nine-member jury, charged with indecently assaulting the teenager and assaulting her with intent to rape on June 15, 2008.

Following the summation of the evidence by Madam Justice Wanda Blair this afternoon, the jury returned unanimous verdicts on both counts.

Hinds remains on bail pending sentence. He will reappear before the No. 5a Supreme Court on June 18.

Hinds represented himself during the trial while Crown Counsels Joyann Catwell and Keith Robertson prosecuted the case.
