Convicted man ‘at low risk of reoffending’

A convicted man who maintained his innocence despite being found guilty by a jury, will have the opportunity to present character witnesses to speak on his behalf before he is sentenced.

Daniel Emmanuel Hinds, a resident of Mount #2, St Peter, was previously found culpable of indecently assaulting a female on June 15, 2018, and assaulting her with intent to rape.

On Friday, he returned before the No.5a Supreme Court and was informed that a pre-sentencing report on his life was ready. It was read to him by Madame Justice Wanda Blair after he requested assistance.

Among the findings was that Hinds was at low risk of reoffending.

When asked whether he had anything to say with respect to the offences, Hinds replied: “It was a long time, Ma’am, that this case was going on and I haven’t done anything wrong.”

He was told that on his next court date – July 2 – he could produce witnesses to speak about his character.

Submissions on sentencing will also be made by the team of prosecutors, Crown Counsels Joyann Catwell and Keith Robertson.
